Nursery Table

your impact
starts here

This is how it works

1|

QUANTITY
Fragment

You have the freedom to choose how many nursery tables you would like to sponsor. Your decision, no matter the number, plays a vital role in advancing our mission to restore and preserve the natural ecology of Redang Island. Each table supports 200 coral nubbins, each one a step closer to revitalizing our precious marine ecosystems.

2|

Sponsor
Name

Each sponsored table will proudly display the sponsor’s name for one year. This gesture serves as our heartfelt appreciation to every sponsor, ensuring that every visitor to Redang Island knows that each table has its own dedicated sponsor—like your esteemed company.

Planting
Coral

We will plant the coral nubbin for you. Your sponsorship covers the costs of nurturing each seedling. Thank you for your support.

The process starts by carefully selecting healthy coral colonies from around the table to produce coral nubbins. These corals are delicately brought to the water’s surface, where they undergo the cutting and seeding process onto specialized coral plugs before being placed onto the nursery table.

Cleaning &
Monitoring

Every single coral fragment we produce will receive meticulous monitoring, care, and measurement by our team to ensure they achieve optimal growth rates. This dedication is essential not only for their well-being but also for maintaining detailed records and advancing our research efforts.

Coral
Restoration

After the coral fragments have matured, they will be carefully transported to the affected areas for restoration activities. Typically, coral fragments reach maturity in about 5-6 months, varying by species. Your support accelerates this vital process, rejuvenating our precious marine ecosystems

Nursery Table

RM30,000

Here’s your chance to make a profound impact on our oceans. By sponsoring an entire table of corals through their 6-month growth journey, you not only support their development but also leave a lasting mark—your name proudly displayed on the table.

The ongoing monitoring and maintenance involve significant costs, ensuring these fragile fragments receive the care they need until they are ready to be deployed.

where will this RM30,000 go?

PHASE 1: PRODUCES A CORAL NUBBIN (1 Week)

A full table can hold 200 nubbins! They are arranged in grids to allows us (diver) to monitor and clean them easily,

PHASE 2: MONITORING AND MAINTENANCE (4 - 5 Months)

Our divers will perform monitoring and maintenance every 2 weeks by cleaning each nursery pot to be free of algae. They will also conduct nursery data collection activities every 2 months and provide a complete report to the DOF.

PHASE 3: CORAL RESTORATION (3 Weeks)

Healthy and mature nubbins will be transplanted to the affected area to ensure that the area recovers and becomes healthy again. This activity will take a few weeks because we are preparing artificial reef that will be used to hold the coral seeds

WHERE WILL IT BE PLANTED?

We have a number of outplant sites located on the Redang Island. You’ll be able to see these when you became one of our preservation team

THE HIGH COST IS DUE TO SEVERAL FACTORS

  1. Long-Term Care: Each coral nubbin we produce requires careful nurturing for a full six months.
  2. Monitoring and Maintenance: Regular monitoring and maintenance activities are essential and come with high costs. This includes the use of specialized equipment, skilled labor, and advanced monitoring technology to ensure the coral grows healthily and robustly.
  3. Human Resources: The workforce involved in the care and monitoring process possesses specialized skills and knowledge, contributing to the overall high costs.
  4. Equipment and Technology: The equipment used in this process is sophisticated and expensive, including technology for monitoring coral health and maintenance tools.

All these costs are combined to ensure the highest quality and survival rate of the coral seedlings we produce.
